Join our monthly innovation event!

Project TBD (Transformation By Design) is a monthly event series in which we explore how Human-Centered Design can drive business, civic, and social innovation. The sessions are typically a mix of brief presentations and/or discussions with innovation practitioners followed by small group conversations.

Launched in 2023 to replace the Forward Faster series, Project TBD provides a forum where people from various backgrounds "collide and connect" with other equally curious-minded folks who share an interest in innovation, creative problem-solving, and Human-Centered Design. If this sounds like your kind of tribe, make plans to join us at an upcoming event.

Want to be part of the tribe? Stay up to date on events and announcements.

We won’t wear out your inbox or share
your information because we don’t like that either.

Thanks for signing up!

"For anything to change, someone has to start behaving differently."
(Chip Heath and Dan Heath)

When trying to get people to adopt a new product, program, or process, we often focus solely on presenting facts and figures and then act puzzled when an appeal to logic doesn't move them to act. (Spoiler Alert: It's not them, it's us. Or, more specifically, our approach.)

So how should WE start acting differently?

Join us as we continue our Project TBD mini-series about the power of a human-centered approach to organizational change. In this session, we'll examine the second part of the Heath Brothers' Switch framework, "Motivate the Elephant," to understand why it's critical to address the emotional drivers of behavior. We'll also share three techniques we can use to make change easier for others and ourselves.

Don't miss the opportunity to collide and connect with other curious-minded people eager to put Human-Centered Design at the forefront of driving change.

We hope you'll make plans to join us in person or via Zoom.

Shaping the Path: A Human-Centered Approach to Change

"What looks like a people problem is often a situation problem."
(Chip and Dan Heath)

Change efforts always require some level of behavior change. But when people don't do what we want them to do, we too often focus on addressing what's wrong with THEM. (Sigh.) Yet, sometimes, all that is needed is a small change in their environment. In other words, if we change their situation, the desired behavior may follow along without any additional intervention. Easy, peasy! Or at least, easier, peasier. :-)

That's the focus in the third part of the Project TBD mini-series on a Human-Centered Approach to Change. We'll explore the final part of the Heath brothers' Switch framework called "Shaping the Path." We'll look at how we can make use of techniques such as choice architecture, habit stacking, and social cues to influence behavior.

Don't miss the opportunity to collide and connect with other curious-minded people eager to put Human-Centered Design at the forefront of driving change.
We hope you'll make plans to join us in person at Kingsmen Software in Camp North End or via Zoom.

This event is part of Charlotte Innovation Week, a multi-day celebration of innovation and entrepreneurship in the Queen City. The week features various events held throughout the City and hosted by different organizations such as ours. Check out the entire calendar at charlotteinnovationweek.com.
